Description
jackanpet Store Presented for sale is is a Zenith Deutsches Heer German Army Second World War pocket watch in very good original unrestored condition. This is a very rare and collectable military pocket watch with the correct Deutsches Heer markings and in perfect working order. As with all of my watches, authenticity is backed by a full money refund guarantee. The Zenith signed dial has its original black finish which is in very good unrestored condition. It is considerably better than most original dials you will find from this period with pleasing patination but no obvious discolouration or spotting. The luminous quarter hour numerals have faded over the years which is inevitable but the hands are still looking very good. The condition of the dial is a major factor when determining the value of any watch, with unrestored dials in good condition often achieving up to 40% more in price than a restored dial or an original in only fair condition. The nickel case is in very good condition with no obvious wear and measures approximately 50mm across and 68mm in overall length. On the inside of the screwback rear cover it is marked " Zenith" and bears the Zenith logo. The outside of the cover bears the Deutsches Heer serial number "D. 8409764 H. The case has an inside dust cover. The 15 jewel Zenith cal. 193-P-6 movement is completely original, with no changed or non-standard parts. It has a frosted gilt finish and is numbered 3467030. Having just been professionally serviced, the movement is running perfectly and keeping time. Many newly acquired vintage watches need this work before they can be brought into regular use and as a service can cost in excess of £100 for a quality watch such as this please factor in that this work has already been done when bidding. This watch is in very good condition and which due to its originality, will be of significant interest to serious collectors. Zenith History The Zenith Watch Company was founded in Le Locle in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot. Zenith is a high class niche watchmaker, relatively unknown until the last few years (and some would say a well kept secret), producing the highest standards of quality for wealthy, discerning buyers. They are very popular among serious and knowledgeable collectors who appreciate the very fine quality and craftsmanship that went into these vintage watches. During the company's history it has been awarded more than 1500 observatory medals and awards. The Zenith name was first used on a watch in 1911 when the firm was changed to a stock company. It was acquired in 1969 by the "Mondia-Movado-Zenith" holding company but has been independent again since 1984. In recent years the company has increased its market share globally and its high quality products can be seen in the shop window of many quality jewellers. The craftsmanship that goes into a Zenith watch is superb. In addition, unlike a number of its competitors, Zenith did not buy in "ebauches" (a complete "raw movement" without the escapement, balance, hairspring, mainspring, dial and hands) but made every part of their movements in-house. For this reason the company had total control over its production and has secured a well deserved reputation for being placed among the highest quality watchmakers in the world. I also invite you to ask questions if there is anything else you need to know. I cannot provide a refund if you decide your watch is too small or you do not like it for some other reason. Do please bear in mind that your watch has been used so will not be as new. Also take care to consider the dimensions of the watch case as if it is a gentlemens’ Art Deco rectangular vintage watch; they were made smaller than contemporary watches. I have all of my watches professionally checked before sale. I have them serviced and have any other work that is required carried out if they are not running smoothly and keeping reasonable time. If I have not stated that the watch has been serviced you may wish to have this work done within a few months of purchase, particularly if you intend to wear the watch on a daily basis. On request, I can provide you with details of independent watchmakers to whom you can send your watch for servicing. As with any used mechanical item, a fault may unexpectedly develop. If this happens within one month of purchase I will endeavour to assist you with any necessary repairs if you return the watch to me. Please do not take your watch to your own watchmaker without first agreeing this with me. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
